If you can’t stand the HEAT, get OUT of the kitchen!
Oh man guys, it has been a while since I’ve written. Due to the NBA finals, I put the blog on hold. Now that the NBA finals are over, back to writing!!! I hope everyone had a great Easter and Mother’s Day! At the club, we cooked for 1K people on Easter and 750 people on Mother’s Day. Jeeze, those were long days!
Since the Chicago Bulls had a crushing destructive series against the Miami Heat, I need to resort to some simple comfort foods that I ate as a kid. Korean Lettuce Wraps. These suckers are so simple, tasty, and keep your recipe base diverse!!
- 1st item we need is rice. Preferable sticky rice, so if you have a rice cooker you should use it. If you don’t, call your local Asian bistro and order some! And if all else fails, use whichever rice you have around.
- 2nd item we need is bacon. YUM! Crisp up some bacon, about 3-5 pieces per serving. Break it up into smaller than bite size pieces.
- 3rd item we need is leaf lettuce. You can use romaine, but I often just use plain leaf lettuce, or even the red leaf varietal. Pick off some leaves and give it a good rinse.
That is it guys! Grab your piece of lettuce and hold it in the palm of your hand. Throw a little rice in there and some bacon. I like to add some Sriracha sauce or Korean fermented chili paste! Just eat this little bundle of joy like a taco! The hot sauce really brings it all together. Spicy sauce, refreshing lettuce, crispy salty bacon, with rice to smooth it all out. Oh jeeze, these wraps are so perfect!
